How to transform a plain dress into something stunning

Embroiderer near Riad Chi-Chi, Musée de Marrakech

On the edge of the souks, and relatively close to Riad Chi-Chi, we visited Mustafa. Using an old Singer machine, you'll see how he transforms a simple garment into something rich and stylish. Located in the old city, medina, of Marrakech.

The Baker – in Sidi ben Slimane, Marrakesh

The Baker – in Sidi ben Slimane, Marrakesh

We went to visit our local bakery in Sidi ben Slimane, just opposite the hammam. It's where locals take their dough to be baked - he will also bake pizzas, cakes, savoury dishes for a very modest fee - like 1.5 dirhams! http://www.riadariha.com/the-riad-videos/in-and-around-riad-ariha-video-vignettes.htm

Tanjia, a typical Moroccan dish, slow-cooked meat.

Join our cook, Khatija, on the way to the hammam to slow-roast a tanjia - the name for both the clay cooking pot as well as the tasty meat dish. A typical Moroccan dish with marinaded meat or chicken.

The metals markets - a noisy but fascinating place in the souks of Marrakesh

Another in our series of video vignettes on life in and around our riads, Riad Ariha and Riad Chi-Chi. In this mini-video we visited the metal markets - some in plain view as you wander the souks - some more hidden away. It's a noisy place, but fascinating.

One of our video vignettes on life in the medina of Marrakech

We have started doing some short video vignettes on life in the medina around the riads, Riad Ariha and Riad Chi-Chi.  Strolling around the old city you see all kinds of interesting activities – craftspeople working at their trade: weavers, metal workers, bakers, woodworkers.
The first video is of Abdelaziz, one of our local weavers, who weaves and sells colourful scarves.  You will pass his small shop on the way to Riad Ariha in the rue Sidi ben Slimane, Marrakesh.
